[Update: Tata Altroz turbo petrol launched at Rs 7.74 lakh]
As the Altroz celebrates its 1st anniversary, Tata Motors has revealed the iTurbo, a turbocharged petrol variant, scheduled to go on sale on January 22, 2021. It’ll be available in three trims — XT, XZ and the new XZ+ [replaces the XZ (O) trim].
Except for an iTurbo badge at the rear, the turbo petrol variant doesn’t look any different from the regular Altroz petrol. The XZ and XZ+ trims get 16-inch alloy wheels, while a contrast black roof is optional on XZ and standard in the XZ+.
Features in the cabin include leatherette seats, a 7-inch MID, a 7-inch infotainment system by Harman, mood lighting, adjustable headrests (front & rear), auto AC, rear AC vents, and safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, front seat belt reminder, front log lamps and so on.
The XZ+ gets a personalized wallpaper on the infotainment screen. Download the brochure here.
Also, the range-topping XZ+ trim gets iRA (Intelligent Real time Assist) connected car features such as remote lock/unlock, headlights on/off, stolen vehicle tracking, immobilization and so on.
Powertrain
The Altroz iTurbo is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 81 kW (110 metric hp) at 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) of torque between 1,500-5,500 rpm. Compared to the N/A 1.2L petrol, there’s 24 hp and 27 Nm more. All that power is accessible in ‘Sport’ mode. The gearbox remains to be a 5-speed manual.
