As the Sony PS5 proves to be a sales success, Jaguar has revealed the Vision Gran Turismo SV, a more hardcore version of the Vision Gran Turismo of 2019. The SV will be available in the Gran Turismo game in 2021. The design team has also built a full-scale model.
The Gran Turismo SV features a more dramatic exterior with a longer front splitter, side skirts, and a crazy-looking rear end. The active rear wing was apparently inspired by the one on the XJR-14. The rear wing also makes the car 861 mm longer at 5,540 mm, while the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,721 mm.
The GT SV boasts a drag coefficient of 0.398 Cd, but also generates 483 kg (1,065 lbs) of downforce at 322 km/h (200 mph), Jaguar said.
The cabin retains all the drama including a central spine/bridge featuring a sequential manual-type lever; an octagonal-ish steering wheel, a curved digital display, AI tech and so on. The composite seats are upholstered in a new fabric material called ‘Typefibre’, which is claimed to be a lighter alternative to leather with outstanding comfort and durability.
As for the technical bits, the GT SV gets quad motors as opposed to three in the GT, with one motor driving each wheel, generating a combined 1,400 kW (1,903 metric hp) and 3,360 Nm (2,478 lb-ft) of torque. Each motor will, of course, have its own single-speed transmission. The virtual race car can do a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph).
The car also offers a unique sound, which according to Jaguar, builds “a crescendo at the 40,000 rpm redline”.
