Genesis has revealed the powertrain details of its first-ever GV70 coupe-SUV that debuted in October 2020. Depending on the market, there’ll be three engines on offer.
To begin with, there’ll be a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 227 kW (304 metric hp) at 5,800 rpm and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) of torque between 1,650-4,000 rpm. Next up is a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 157 kW (210 metric hp) at 3,800 rpm and 441 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750-2,750 rpm.
For those looking for performance, Genesis will offer a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that pumps out a healthy 283 kW (380 metric hp) at 5,800 rpm and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque between 1,300-4,500 rpm, same tuning as on the GV80.
All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 3.5L V6 variant will be available only as AWD; the other two powertrains will offer both RWD and AWD options. The Sport Package offers an e-LSD (electronic Limited Slip Differential) for the rear axle.
The GV70 features all the active safety and driver assistance systems, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA); Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA); Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA); Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Forward Attention Warning (FAW); Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC); and Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II). Passive safety includes a total of 8 airbags.
