Piaggio group (Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited) is all set to introduce its “Sport Scooter” – the Aprilia SR 150 to the Indian market, and is priced at Rs 65,000, ex-showroom, Pune. The company has plans for market launch sometime in the coming month of August. Designed and engineered in Italy, the Aprilia SR 150 will be manufactured at Piaggio’s plant in Baramati (Pune dist), Maharashtra.
As the name suggests, the Aprilia SR 150 is powered by a 150 CC single cylinder 4 stroke engine producing 11.5 bhp and 11.5 Nm of torque. Adding to the sportiness is the 14 inch five-spoke wheels. The company says the Aprilia SR 150 combines the feel of a sports bike with the ease of use of a scooter.
“After the success of the Ape and the positioning of the Vespa in the premium segment of the Indian market, we are further strengthening our offer in the subcontinent with the entry on to the Indian market of the Aprilia SR 150 scooter,” said Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno. “This vehicle is an excellent expression of the Noale manufacturer’s sport expertise and offers technological and style features superior to those of its direct competitors in its segment.” He added.
The Aprilia SR 150 can be booked through the Piaggio Group dealer network and at Piaggio Motoplex, which is a one stop shop for all Piaggio group brands including Vespa, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Gilera.
