Jerod Shelby, the CEO of SSC North America, has released a personal video statement regarding the Tuatara’s World Record controversy. He says that after watching the debunking videos of Shmee150 and others, he requested the company that shot the record run videos to send them the video files (unedited?) as SSC didn’t possess any of them.
SSC received a couple of files and when analyzed, they got the same doubts. Jerod says that the more they looked into the videos, the more it started to look like the videos and the GPS didn’t match. “And no matter what we do, in the coming days, to try to salvage this particular record, it’s always gonna have a stain on it,” Jerod said. “So, as I sat this thinking through, there was just no way to now make this perfect. It hit me. We have to re-run this record,” he added.
“So the next time we do this, which is, we’re gonna prepare to do this in the very near future, we need to make sure we have multiple GPS companies’ equipment in the car. I wanna make sure that we have their staff on-site looking over our shoulders, analyzing every run, every detail of this,” he continued.
At the end of his statement, Jerod extended a special invite to Shmee150 and his friends Misha and Robert to witness the re-run when it happens.
