Fiat has added a new 3+1 door variant to the all-electric New 500 that we saw in April this year. The New 500 3+1 comes with a tiny rear door on the right side of the vehicle, enabling better access to the rear seats.
Apparently, the inspiration for the rear-hinged door came from the 1957 Fiat 500. The extra rear door is only on the right side and as you might have guessed, it can only be opened if the front passenger door is already open — for safety reasons. The extra door adds about 30 kg (66 lbs) to the vehicle.
The 3+1 will be available in three colors at launch: Rose Gold, Glacier Blue and Onyx Black.
In addition to the New 500 3+1 la Prima, now there are three more trims on offer: Action, Passion and Icon. The Action’s power output is limited to 70 kW (95 hp) with a 23.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of over 180 km (111+ mi) in the WLTP cycle, or over 240 km (149 mi) only in the city. The Action’s battery pack is capable of 50 kW DC fast-charging.
The remaining trims (including la Prima) get a 87 kW (118 hp) e-motor with a 42 kWh battery pack, offering up to 320 km (198 mi) range in the WLTP cycle, or 460 km (285 mi) in the urban cycle alone. The battery pack here is capable of up to 85 kW DC fast-charging. Read more about the New 500 here.
