The refreshed Porsche Panamera lineup is now joined by a couple more hybrid models, offering up to 700 hp combined output. The new models will be at European dealerships from the beginning of this December.
The new 4 E-Hybrid, available in both normal and Sport Turismo body styles, packs the same combination as the 4S E-Hybrid — a 2.9-litre (2,894 cc) V6 biturbo engine combined with an electric motor that is integrated with the 8-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox. However, the combined output here is 462 metric hp (340 kW) between 5,000-6,250 rpm and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque between 1,000-4,300 rpm, which is a shortage of 98 hp and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) compared to the 4S. Should be fine, as it is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds (-0.2 s) and on to a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph) — an increase of 2 km/h.
The big daddy of the lineup is, of course, the Turbo S E-Hybrid. This thing combines a 4.0-litre (3,996 cc) V8 biturbo petrol engine and a 136 hp electric motor coupled with the 8-speed PDK. The system produces a combined 700 metric hp (514 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 870 Nm (642 lb-ft) of torque between 1,500-5,500 rpm, which is an increase of 20 hp and 20 Nm over the outgoing model.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds (-0.2 seconds) and on to a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph) — an improvement of 5 km/h. It also benefits from a larger 17.9 kWh battery pack, offering up to 59 km (36 mi) EV range according to NEDC.
Prices in Germany for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid start from €110,369 while the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid commands €185,537 starting price. The prices include VAT and country-specific equipment.
