BMW has launched its first-ever 2 Series Gran Coupé in India, priced at INR 39,30,000 for the 220d Sport Line and INR 41,40,000 for the 220d M Sport. Both prices are ex-showroom and introductory. The petrol variants will follow at a later date.
For the Indian market, the 2 Series Gran Coupé is available in four standard colours – Alpine White (non metallic), Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red and Storm Bay. In addition, the Sport Line trim gets an exclusive Seaside Blue color, while the M Sport gets two additional exclusive colors – Misano Blue and Snapper Rocks Blue.
LED headlights, LED taillights and 17-inch light-alloy wheels are standard. The M Sport variant gets 18-inch M light-alloy wheels.
Features in the cabin include BMW Live Cockpit Professional (10.25-inch digital driver display and 10.25-inch central display), Virtual Assistant, Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, 2-zone climate control, and 10-speaker audio system. Safety equipment includes 6 airbags, ABS, Dynamic Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and Pedestrian protection with Active Bonnet. Download the specification sheet here.
Powertrain
Moving on to the business end of the story, the 2 Series Gran Coupé in India is powered by a 2.0-litre (1,995 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 190 hp (140 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750-2,500 rpm. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic that drives the front wheels. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is claimed to happen in 7.5 seconds, should such things interest you.
