Honda has updated the Ridgeline pickup truck for the 2021 model year, with subtle exterior and interior updates. It’ll go on sale in the US market early next year.
As mentioned, the styling updates are subtle and can be found mainly on the front fascia, with squared-off nose and a more upright grille, flanked by LED headlights updated for better illumination. Atop the grille is a crossbar that bisects the headlight lenses – gloss black on Sport trim and Black edition, chrome on RTL and RTL-E trims. There’s a restyled front bumper as well with air curtains for better aerodynamics. The new rear bumper flaunts two exhaust outlets. The updated truck rides on tougher looking 18-inch wheels wrapped around all-season tires.
Honda is also offering a new HPD (Honda Performance Development) Package that adds a unique grille treatment, black fender flares, bronze-colored wheels, and special HPD decals on the bed walls.
Updates in the cabin include an updated infotainment system with better graphics and a physical volume knob; cloth seat inserts for the Sport trim; contrast stitching on the seats for all trims; and new dash, steering wheel and centre console accents for Sport, RTL and RTL-E trims.
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the Ridgeline comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite, featuring Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
Powertrain
Moving on to the business end of the story, the Ridgeline continues to be powered by a 3.5-litre (3,471 cc) V6 gasoline engine that develops 284 metric hp (209 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 355 Nm (262 lb-ft) of torque at 4,700 rpm. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that drives all four wheels via i-VTM4 torque-vectoring AWD system.
The Ridgeline claims a best-in-AWD-class 1,580 lbs (717 kg) payload capacity and up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) towing capacity.
