Audi has revealed the S3 variants of the 4th generation A3 Sportback and Sedan in one shot, which is always a good thing especially for media as we don’t have to go through a lengthy press information documents twice. Anyway, the performance variants are here and they look even more sharp and crispy! The photos here feature the limited, launch edition variants called ‘Edition One’, with Python Yellow (Sportback) and Tango Red (Sedan) paint finishes with black accents.

The distinguishing factors are mainly the hexagonal grille with a rhombus pattern, sporty front & rear bumpers, and quad tailpipes. While the alloy wheel design on the S3 Sportback are similar to those on the A3 Sportback, the wheels on the S3 Sedan are different. The wheels measure 18-inch as standard while 19-inch ones are optional (featured here in the photos). The calipers are painted in black as standard, with red offered as an option.

As always, the matrix LED headlights are available as an option on both S3 Sportback and the S3 Sedan; the running lights consist of a pixel array made up of 15 LED segments.

The interior of the regular models already looked sporty, so you’re not gonna find much difference here in the S3 models. There’ll be aluminum or carbon inlays, a standard 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 10.1-inch touch display. Buyers can go for the optional Audi Virtual Cockpit and its ‘plus’ version, both measuring 12.3-inches. The limited edition models get Nappa leather sport seats.

Rest of the features including the driver assistance systems and its options have been carried over from the regular models. These include Audi pre sense front, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise assist. Few more assistance systems such as lane change and exit warnings as well as the cross-traffic and park assist systems, are available optionally.

Moving on to the business end of the story, both models pack a 2.0L (1,984 cc) TFSI (turbo petrol) 4-cylinder engine under its hood, offering 228 kW (310 hp) between 5,450-6,500 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 2,000-5,450 rpm. A 7-speed S tronic gearbox sends power to all four wheels via quattro AWD system. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is claimed to happen in 4.8 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Audi says that the standard suspension with progressive steering is specifically tuned for pleasurable driving; the body is lowered by 15 mm. The S sport suspension with damper control can be found in the options list.

Pre-sales of the new S3 models start in European countries in August 2020 with deliveries expected to start from the beginning of October 2020. In Germany, prices for the S3 Sportback start at €46,302, while the S3 Sedan is listed at €47,180.
