Kia has revealed the exterior of the 4th generation Carnival MPV (also sold as Sedona in some markets), showcasing its SUV-inspired styling. It is scheduled to go on sale later in the third quarter of 2020 in South Korea.
Dubbed as “Grand Utility Vehicle”, the new Carnival features a shorter front overhang, with the base of the A-pillar moved backwards to create a longer hood. Its wheelbase has been increased as well, which should contribute to greater space throughout the cabin, while giving the car a longer, slightly more athletic silhouette.
As for the front fascia, the signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille has been given a bold new look with an interesting new pattern. The high-beam units of the new LED headlights are integrated into the corner of the grille, with the low-beam lamps sitting separately at the outer edges. The LED running lamps form a unique light signature that becomes a part of the grille frame. Overall, the headlights and the grille has been designed to look as if it’s a single, integrated unit.
The side profile features bold wheel arches and a sharp shoulder line. The A- and B-pillars have been blacked-out with the roof in body color, the effect which Kia refers to as ‘island roof’ design. The chrome fin on the C-pillar design is inspired by that of the new Sorento.
The rear-end features a subtle roof spoiler. The wrap-around windscreen design has been carried over with clean lines, complemented by the aforementioned chrome fin on the C-pillar. The full-width taillight features a light signature that mimics the one on the front fascia. Rounding off the SUV-inspired design is a metallic skid plate.
The interior images are not yet available, but you can expect the new Carnival to be a premium looking, tech loaded one. More details are expected in the coming days.
