Pre-bookings of Datsun redi-Go commences today for a down payment of Rs 5,000. Customers can book the redi-Go hatchback either at Datsun dealerships or on Snapdeal, and deliveries will begin by end of June. Datsun has confirmed the prices to range between Rs 2.5 – 3.5 lakh, which makes it is the least expensive car in the country.
Based on the Common Module Family (CMF-A), the same platform as Kwid, the redi-Go will be powered by the same 0.8-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, producing 54 ps @ 56,78 rpm and 72 Nm of torque @ 4,388 rpm. The transmission will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual for now, and an AMT option will follow later. Datsun will market redi-Go as “URBAN-CROSS” owing to its 185 mm ground clearance and YUKAN design philosophy, which means brave and bold in Japanese.
