Hyundai India has commenced bookings for the second generation Creta ahead of its expected launch on 17th March 2020. The SUV was previewed in the country at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.

Hyundai has also revealed the interiors along with some details on the car. On the exterior, the car gets ‘Trio Beam’ LED headlamps, ‘Cresent Glow’ LED DRLs, a rear spoiler, welcome function with puddle lamps & auto unfold ORVMs, new alloy wheels and disc brakes at all four corners.

The new Creta will be offered in a total of 10 colors: Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black, Lava Orange, Titan Grey, Deep Forest (Turbo only), Galaxy Blue, and Red Mulberry. There’ll be two dual-tone paint schemes too: Polar White with Phantom Black and Lava Orange with Phantom Black.

The interior design is different from the one sold in China, but this one isn’t bad either. Features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch infotainment system, Blue ambient lighting, 8-speaker Bose audio system, BlueLink voice commands, voice-enabled Smart Panoramic Sunroof, BlueLink-integrated smartwatch app, and a cooled glovebox.

More features include auto air purifier, 2-step reclining rear seat, rear seat headrest cushion, front & rear USB chargers, rear window sunshade, and LED reading lamps. Safety features would include the TPMS.

Powertrains
The new Creta in India borrows the powertrains from the Seltos. The petrol engine is a 1.5-litre (1,497 cc) unit producing 115 hp at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Also on offer is a 1.5-litre (1,493 cc) diesel engine that puts out 115 hp at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,750 rpm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

For those looking for performance, Hyundai is offering a 1.4-litre (1,353 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, tuned to produce 140 hp at 6,000 rpm and 242 Nm of torque between 1,500–3,200 rpm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike the Seltos, there seems to be no manual on offer for the turbo petrol. These engine variants get Traction Control with Snow, Sand & Mud modes.

Over the years, Hyundai Creta has set new benchmarks, becoming an Iconic Brand name among Indian consumers and building a strong legacy with over 4.6 lakh happy customers across India. It is time for the Creta to set new standards once again. – Tarun Garg, Director – Sales, Marketing & Service, Hyundai Motor India
