The Tata Tigor has been awarded 4 stars in Global NCAP’s latest round of #SaferCarsForIndia crash tests. The rating is applicable to the Tiago as well.
The tested model was equipped with dual front airbags, 4-channel ABS, driver seat belt pretensioner, and seat belt reminder. The car was subjected only to the frontal offset deformable barrier test at 64 km/h.
Adult Occupant Protection
In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the car scored a maximum of 12.52 points out of 17. The report said that the protection offered to the driver and passenger’s head and neck was good. The driver’s chest showed marginal protection while the passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. Driver and passenger’s knees showed marginal protection as they impact dangerous structures behind the facia.
However, the bodyshell was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding further loadings. Footwell area too was rated as unstable.
Child Occupant Protection
As for the Child Occupant Protection, the car scored a maximum of 34.15 points out of 49. The report said that the child seat for a 3-year old was installed FWF with the adult seatbelt and support leg and was able to prevent excessive forward movement during the impact. The protection offered to a 1.5-year old dummy was good. The car doesn’t offer ISOFIX anchorages. Download full report here.
