Hyundai India has commenced bookings for a new sub-4 metre compact sedan called ‘Aura’, slated to go on sale in the country on Jan 21, 2020. Bookings can be done for a deposit of Rs 10,000 online or at Hyundai dealerships.
The Aura is a sedan version of the Grand i10 Nios (3rd gen i10) that was launched in India in August 2019, and will replace the ageing Xcent. The new sedan measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,450 mm, same as the aforementioned hatchback.
Key features would include projector headlamps, Twin Boomerang LED DRLs, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED taillamps, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, Arkamys Premium Sound, wireless smartphone charging, and a Strong Body Structure with the application of 65 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS+HSS).
Powering the Aura will be a choice of three engines: 1.2-litre Kappa petrol (83 hp, 114 Nm), 1.2-litre Ecotorq diesel (75 hp, 190 Nm), and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol (100 hp, 172 Nm). Transmission is a 5-speed manual or an AMT; the 1.0L turbo petrol is available only with a 5 MT. All three engines are BS-VI emission norms compliant.
