Along with the series-production R8 V10 RWD models, Audi also took the wraps off the updated R8 LMS GT4, priced at €198,000 (VAT extra). The new race car boasts sharper styling, better handling and more safety.
The chassis features Audi Space Frame (ASF) with aluminum-CFRP mixed-material construction, resulting in a weight of 1,460 kg. The suspension is rebound- and compression-adjustable with racing-specific dampers and springs, as well as adjustable stabilizers. Braking duties are handled by steel rotors with modified calipers. For the first time, the intervention of the ABS can be adjusted in 8 levels and so is the Traction Control system.
The cast aluminum wheels measure 18-inches, shod with 305/645 tyres at the front and 315/680 at the rear. Options list includes a tire pressure warning system.
In addition to a fire extinguishing system, there are safety nets for the driver and crash foam in the doors. The Audi Sport PS03 safety seat is an evolved version of the PS1 model. Like in the R8 LMS GT3, the PS03 seat is mounted to the safety cage and gets GT3-standard 6-point harness.
An air conditioning system is standard. Other features include the pedals which can be longitudinally adjusted in several steps, and a central multi-function display and data logger.
A 5.2-litre (5,204 cc) naturally aspirated V10 motor powers the R8 LMS GT4. It develops up to 364 kW (495 hp) and over 550 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Download the spec sheet here.
