Porsche wants to give Taycan buyers more options, with the Taycan 4S joining the lineup as an entry-level model. The Taycan lineup now comprises of Turbo, Turbo S, and 4S models.
Visual differences we can see are mainly a different set of 19-inch wheels, and flip-out charging flap instead of a fancy electric one found in the Turbo S. The Taycan 4S also gets LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) as standard. The cast-iron brakes measure 360 mm at the front with 6-piston fixed calipers and 358 mm at the rear with 4-piston calipers.
Features inside include a 16.8-inch curved instrument display, a 10.9-inch infotainment system, (optional) passenger display, partial leather upholstery, and front comfort seats with 8-way electrical adjustment. Other standard features include adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology including PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) electronic damper control.
As for the business end, the Taycan 4S is available with two battery packs and delivers up to 390 kW (530 hp) with the Performance Battery or up to 420 kW (571 hp) with the Performance Battery Plus. The single-deck Performance battery has a capacity of 79.2 kWh, while the Plus with 93.4 kWh is from the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. The range as per WLTP is 407 km and 463 km, respectively.
Either way, the Taycan 4S is claimed to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
The Taycan 4S is available to order now and will arrive in European dealerships in January 2020. Prices in Germany start at €105,607 – including VAT and country-specific equipment.
