India’s new electric startup Revolt Motors has launched the RV300 and RV400 electric motorcycles, with prices starting at Rs 2,999 per month. Meaning, the motorcycles are offered on a subscription-basis called MaaS (Motorcycle as a Service), and the customers won’t be able to purchase them outright. Revolt says that the business model is industry-first.
The RV300 starts at Rs 2,999 per month, while the RV400 has Base and Premium variants, priced at Rs 3,499 and Rs 3,999 per month, respectively. Revolt said that the RV400 comes with a host of introductory benefits such as unlimited battery warranty (8 years / 1.5L km), free maintenance benefits (3 years / 30,000 km), product warranty (5 years / 75,000 km) and insurance (1-year company-owned, 5 years third-party).
The RV400’s mid-mounted electric motor produces 3 kW (4 hp), drawing juice from a 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is claimed to offer 80 km range in Sport mode, 100 km in Normal mode, and 150 km in Eco mode.
The RV300 on the other side gets a 1.5 kW (2 hp) hub motor. Its 2.7 kWh lithium-ion battery is claimed to offer 110 km range in Normal mode, 180 km in Eco mode, and 80 km in Sport mode.
As for charging times, 0 – 75 percent charge is claimed to happen in 3 hours. The battery pack is removable too and can be charged outside, or can be swapped at the nearest Revolt Switch Station. Both motorcycles feature LED lighting, and adjustable monoshock at the rear. The RV400’s disc brakes measure 240 mm front and rear, while the RV300’s discs measure 240 mm at front and 180 mm at the rear. Wheels on both motorcycles measure 17-inch. As part of the accessories package, Revolt will offer a connected helmet in partnership with Google, that enables to start the bike using “Revolt Start” voice command.

The aforementioned mobile app also lets the rider to start/stop, and choose different sounds for the motorcycle. A couple of them sound like the exhaust notes of a 600 cc / 1000 cc motorcycle.

Revolt said that the deliveries of the RV400 will commence in September 2019 for the first batch in Delhi, bookings for which began on June 25, 2019. For test rides, people can visit any of the 4 Revolt Hubs in Delhi located at Preet Vihar, Safdarjung Enclave, Dwarka and Gujranwala Town. The RV400 will be launched in Pune next month, followed by Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, and Chennai in the next 4 months.
The Revolt motorcycles are based on Super Soco electric motorcycles from Shanghai, China. Super Soco has presence in Europe and Australian markets too. In India, they’re manufactured at a facility in Manesar, Haryana.
