The fully-electric premium MPV from Mercedes-Benz has been promoted from the concept to a series-production version. The EQV will make its public debut at this year’s IAA (12 to 22 September).
The production EQV ditches the concept‘s continuous LED strip that flows into the headlamps, and so are the subtle blue accents on the wheels. However, the 18-inch wheel design is pretty much the same. An EQV badge has been added on the fender as a distinguishing feature, while the rest of the van looks just like any other V-Class. Buyers can choose between two different wheelbases (3,200 mm or 3,430 mm).
Interiors too don’t look that much different from a regular V-Class. Features include a 10-inch media display, where the EQ tile in the main menu serves as a central point of access to the specific displays and settings; these include the charging current, departure time, energy flow and consumption histogram. Voice command which is activated by the keyword “Hey Mercedes”, is present here as well.
The EQV can be had with 6 individual seats or bench seats which can convert the van into 7- or even an 8-seater.

Moving on to the business end of the story, the EQV packs a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery under the floor which powers an electric motor (eATS) on the front axle. The motor puts out 150 kW (204 metric hp) and 362 Nm (267 lb-ft) of torque. Mercedes estimates a maximum range of 405 km (251 mi).
The EQV is equipped with a water-cooled onboard charger (OBC) with a capacity of 11 kW, making it suitable for AC charging at home or at public charging stations. With 110 kW DC fast-charging, in Europe, the battery is claimed to charge from 10 to 80% in less than 45 minutes. With Wallbox or at public charging stations (11 kW, AC), it would take around 10 hours.
Buyers get access to Mercedes me Charge, with over 300,000 charging points and over different operators of public charging stations in Europe alone (municipalities, car parks, motorways, and shopping centres). Mercedes me Charge also allows access to the quick-charging stations of the pan-European network IONITY. By 2020, IONITY will construct and operate around 400 quick-charging stations along the main traffic arteries in Europe, the company said. IONITY was founded in November 2017 as a joint venture by BMW Group, Daimler, Ford and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche.
