The 8th generation Porsche 911 made its debut last year with Carerra S and Carerra 4S models, which were joined by their Cabriolet variants earlier this year. Now the Carrera Coupe and Carrera Cabriolet have joined the lineup as base models.

There’s not much visual difference, obviously. Feature list includes 19-inch alloy wheels on the front axle and 20-inch at the rear, shod with 235/40 and 295/35 tyres, respectively. Stopping power on both axles comes from 330 mm discs with black, 4-piston monobloc fixed calipers.

A 10.9-inch touchscreen display, Wet Mode, and Porsche Stability Management (PSM) are also part of the features list. As for the instrument cluster, the analogue rev counter is guarded by two 7-inch displays.

Both cars are powered by the same 3.0-litre (2981 cc) 6-cylinder biturbo boxer engine, producing 283 kW (385 hp) at 6500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1950 – 5000 rpm, paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) that sends power to the rear wheels. There’s an increase of 15 hp compared to its predecessor.

The Coupe accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds while the Cabriolet takes 0.2 seconds more; top speed is 293 km/h and 291 km/h, respectively. The optional Sport Chrono Package shaves a further 0.2 seconds off the sprint time. The Carrera Coupe weighs 1,505 kg dry while the Cabriolet weighs 70 kg more.

UK prices start at £82,793 for the Carrera Coupe and £92,438 for the Cabriolet; prices include VAT. As for US, the 2020 Carrera Coupe is priced at $97,400 while the Cabriolet carries a price tag of $110,200; prices exclude taxes, registration and other charges.
