MSIL’s in-house developed new 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine has made its way into the second generation Ertiga as well, with prices starting at Rs 9.86 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

The 1498 cc 4-cylinder unit develops 70 kW (95 hp) at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 225 Nm at 1500 – 2500 rpm – same tuning as the Ciaz 1.5 diesel. Transmission is a 6-speed manual. Fuel efficiency is claimed to be 24.20 km/l. The 1.5L diesel variants doesn’t get a mild-hybrid technology. The 1.3-litre DDiS 200 turbo diesel engine continues to be offered as a Smart Hybrid.
Launched in November 2018, the new Ertiga has clocked over 40,000 units in Nov-April period, registering a growth of over 150% compared to same period last year, the company said.
