The Nissan Versa is also known as Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala and with couple more different names in different markets. This is the third generation model for the North American market.

The previous generation model was boring to look at, and the designers seems to have fixed it for the new generation model. Key design elements include V-motion grille, boomerang-shaped LED headlamps and tail lamps, “kick-up” C-pillars and floating roof effect as well. Adding to the looks are 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels with split 5-spoke design.

“This third-generation Versa design is all about the proportion and stance, to the point where we expect people to look at it and say, ‘Wow, is that a Versa?’,” said Giovanny Arroba, Program Design Director, Nissan Global Design Center. “The wheels are pushed out, there’s an imposing grille presence, everything about it says lower, wider, longer.”

Buyers will have a choice of some interesting colors, including the one featured here, finished in Cayenne Red Metallic.

The interiors too have received a major overhaul and the new layout has a (soft) touch of premiumness. Feature list includes leather-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and semi-digital instrument cluster featuring digital tachometer as well.

Options list includes heated front seats, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As for safety, the new Versa features Nissan Safety Shield 360 that comes standard with Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist. Optional equipment includes Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Driver Alertness and Intelligent Cruise Control.

Powering the new Versa is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine that now offers 122 hp and 114 lb-ft (155 Nm) of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or Xtronic CVT.
