Tata Motors has put up an impressive line-up at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. These include Altroz, Altroz EV, Buzzard Geneva Edition, Buzzard Sport Geneva Edition and H2X Concept.
Altroz
As we know already, the Altroz is the production version of the 45X Concept, and will compete against the likes of Baleno and i20 in India. The designers have done a great job with the IMPACT 2.0 design language. On the exterior, the car gets a chrome finished signature humanity line that runs underneath the headlamps and the grille. The DRLs are housed within the fog lamp units. The side profile features piano black ORVMs, a black accent on the beltline that connects both doors, and sharp character lines. The rear-end has an integrated spoiler and a black insert that connects the wrap-around tail lamps.
The interiors are dominated by a 7-inch floating infotainment system and semi-digital instrument cluster. Also, notice the tasteful body-colored accents on the air vents.
The Altroz will be powered by a 1.2-litre (1,198 cc) petrol engine, producing 75 kW (102 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750 – 4,000 rpm.
Built on the new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture, the Altroz measures 3,988 mm in length, 1,754 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,501 mm.
Altroz EV
Also present at the event was the Altroz EV, powered by a single electric motor. Details are scarce at the moment, but what we do know is the EV version gets slim LED headlamps, digitally-inspired lower grille for a signature look, and a different set of wheels.
The interiors feature a secondary touch display for air conditioning controls. However, it’s not confirmed whether the production model will feature the same. Tata Motors is targeting a range of 250 – 300 km, and 0 – 80% charging time of 60 minutes.
Buzzard
If you haven’t figured it out yet, the Buzzard is the 7-seater version of the Harrier. Built on the same OMEGA architecture which is derived from Land Rover’s D8, the Buzzard measures 4,661 mm in length, 1,894 mm in width and 1,786 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,741 mm.
The Buzzard is expected to be powered by the same Kryotec engine as the Harrier. By the way, the name “Buzzard” was coined for GIMS 2019 only. The production version is expected to have a different name.
Buzzard Sport
The Buzzard Sport appears to be just a sporty variant of the Harrier, most likely for export markets. Its dimensions are the same as the Harrier and so is the 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine.
H2X Concept
Another concept that grabbed a lot of eyeballs was the H2X Concept. As you might have guessed, the H2X is a compact crossover targeted at the likes of Vitara Brezza and EcoSport in India. It is the second product to be based on the ALFA Architecture after the Altroz. The H2X measures 3,840 mm in length, 1,822 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,450 mm.
The reflective multi-tone glazing is apparently inspired by the visors seen on ski helmets and mountain bike goggles.
As with the exteriors, the interiors too feature an aggressive design with Coanda vents and a wide infotainment screen that merges with the digital instrument cluster.
