BMW has launched the second generation X4 in India, with prices starting at Rs 60,60,000 (inclusive of GST) ex-showroom, Pan India. The SUV is being assembled at the company’s plant in Chennai.

The new X4 made its global debut almost a year ago, and is built on BMW’s Cluster Architecture. The vehicle measures 4,752 mm in length, 1,918 mm in width (excluding mirrors) and 1,621 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,864 mm.
For the Indian market, all variants of the X4 on the exterior gets adaptive LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, ORVMs with automatic anti-dazzle and parking function, LED taillamps, automatic tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels shod with 245/50 tyres. Buyers will have options of up to 21-inch wheels. The famous BMW Display Key is standard too.
BMW X4 xDrive30i
Depending on the variant, interiors of the new X4 is packed with 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional, wireless Apple CarPlay, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Head-Up display, sport seats for driver and front passenger, memory function for driver’s seat, M leather steering wheel, 3-zone climate control, wireless charging, and Parking Assistant — camera and ultrasound-based parking assistance system.
Cruise Control with braking function, Adaptive Suspension, Variable Sport Steering, Performance Control variable torque split at the rear wheels with Automatic Differential Locks (ADB-X), Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist are standard across all variants. Except for the xDrive20d, the other two variants get the Launch Control function.
Safety
Safety equipment for the X4 in India include airbags (front, head, side), ABS with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Tyre Pressure Indicator, and Side-impact protection.
As for the powertrains, the xDrive20d is powered by a 1,995 cc inline-4 turbo diesel engine, developing 140 kW (188 bhp) at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,750-2,500 rpm. The xDrive30d packs a 2,993 cc inline-6 turbo diesel unit, producing 195 kW (261 bhp) at 4,000 rpm and 620 Nm of torque between 2,000-2,500 rpm. With this 3.0L engine, the X4 is claimed to do 0-100 km/h sprint in just 6.0 seconds.
The petrol xDrive30i is powered by a 1,998 cc inline-4 turbocharged engine, developing 185 kW (248 bhp) at 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,450-4,800 rpm. Transmission on all models is an 8-speed Steptronic automatic, sending power to all four wheels via xDrive AWD system with variable torque distribution.
EcoPro, Comfort and Sport modes are standard, while the xDrive30d and xDrive30i gets an additional Sport+ mode.
