In case you missed the story so far, Peugeot is returning to India and the powertrain plant construction began in Hosur, TN, over a year ago. We didn’t hear any official update after that.
However, recently, a DS 7 Crossback was spotted on Indian roads with temporary registration plates, suggesting that the company might be considering the luxury crossover for the Indian market. DS Automobiles is Groupe PSA’s premium marque.
The DS 7 Crossback made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It shares the platform with its cousin, the C5 Aircross. The crossover measures 4,573 mm in length, 2,098 mm in width (including mirrors) and 1,625 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,738 mm.
Although the front reminds us of the Audi, the designers have done a good job with the detailing, such as the Active LED Vision projector headlamps and 3D LED tail lamps with reptile-inspired scales. In the UK, there are 5 alloy wheel designs to choose from, with sizes ranging from 18 to 20-inches.
The cockpit is stylish too, especially in this Opera-Alezan Brown. Equipment list includes 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12-inch central HD touchscreen, 14-speaker Focal audio, and latest driver assistance technologies as well.
The front seats can be heated, ventilated or set to massage, with five modes available, operated from the central touchscreen. The rear seats recline electrically from 23° to 32°.
As for the engines, the DS 7 Crossback is offered with PureTech 180 and PureTech 225 (1.6-litre petrol) engines. On the diesel side, there is BlueHDi 130 (1.5L turbo) and BlueHDi 180 (2.0L turbo) on offer.
This year, a plug-in hybrid variant called E-Tense 4×4 will join the lineup. A total output of 300 hp and 450 Nm of torque is accessible in Sport mode. It also gets 50 km of pure electric range (WLTP cycle and up to 60 km in NEDC), thanks to its 13.2 kWh battery.
