The SC18 Alston is what SP38 Deborah is for Ferrari and Sweptail is for Rolls-Royce. Its a bespoke, one-off project created for a customer.
It is developed by Squadra Corse, Lamborghini’s racing team and as per the customer’s inputs. The designers Centro Stile appears to have looked at the Centenario, SVJ and even the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO for inspiration. Or should we say, its the customer? Either way, the SC18 Alston looks just the way a Lamborghini should look – WILD and totally impractical.
As for the aerodynamics, the large carbon fiber wing has three mechanical adjustments, which apparently, can generate an optimal downforce on any circuit. At the rear, the 12 air intakes on the engine cover improve heat exchange and cooling of the V12 engine.
Speaking of which, the 6,498 cc V12 delivers 770 hp at 8,500 rpm and 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, all handled via the 7-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) gearbox. Apparently, the exhaust has a unique sound.
The carbon fibre body is finished in Grigio Daytona (grey) with red accents. The cockpit features interiors in Nero Ade (black) Alcantara with cross-stitching in Rosso Alala (red), and carbon fiber bucket seats. The look is completed by the single nut wheels, measuring 20-inch on the front and 21-inch at the rear, with specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and a telemetry system to measure all aspects of performance on the track.
The car’s ground clearance is at 109 mm. Lamborghini says the SC18 is “road approved but designed primarily for use on the track”.
The SC18 also paves the way for more personalized projects under the Squadra Corse brand.
