Remember the Ford GT acceptance and rejection letters two years ago? Well, by the time the car went into production, the numbers were doubled from the original 500 units to 1,000 units in order to pacify the angry rejected customers.
Now, the company has announced that they’ll be producing 350 more units, and the application window for select global markets will be re-opened on Nov 8, 2018. Prospective customers can submit their applications at FordGT.com within 30 days.
“The response to our Ford GT has been unprecedented, with initial demand outstripping supply by more than six-to-one,” said Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Performance director. “By extending the Ford GT production run for a limited period, we’re able to maintain the exclusivity of the ultra-desirable supercar while offering the ownership experience to a greater number of customers.”
Successful applicants will work with the Ford GT Concierge Service for a personalized purchase experience of cars produced in the 2020 to 2022 calendar years, the company added.
Ford produced more than 4,000 units of the original GT. It wont be surprising if the units of the second generation model too get further extended beyond 1,350.
