The plug-in hybrid version of the Citroen C5 Aircross will hit the European markets in 2019, but before that, a Concept will make its public debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
Although it looks almost production-ready, Citroen still calls it a “Concept”. The colored inserts on the bumper, side cladding and roof rails, are now in blue to let the regular C5 drivers know that you’re driving a more efficient Aircross.
The interiors too get tastefully applied blue touches. The driver gets a fully digital instrument cluster which is divided into three sections.
The left section appears to showcase how much range is left, both with fuel and in EV mode. Speaking of the EV mode, the Z.E.V. mode (Zero Emission Vehicle) here in the C5 Aircross gets you a range of 31 miles or about 50 km. As for the speed, the vehicle can go up to 83 mph or about 134 km/h in Z.E.V. mode.
If you’re wondering, the total system output is 225 hp. The electric motor appears to be on the front axle and the battery pack is located underneath the floor. As for the charging times, Citroen says that the batteries can be charged in 2 hours with a 32 Amp wall socket. The charging cable is stored on a neatly designed boot floor.
There is also an option to plan and set your recharge time. Last but not the least, there’ll be MyCitroen app to stay connected with the car.
The C5 Aircross is Citroen’s first PHEV model in the Core Model Strategy which will lead to 80% of the range having an electric option by 2023 and 100% by 2025.
