The 2019 BMW Z4 has made its world premiere in its production form at this year’s Concours d’Elegance, Pebble Beach, California. The Concept was unveiled at the same location, last year.

While we leave the design bit for you to see how it compares with the aforementioned Concept, let’s jump straight to the business end. Speaking of which, the model we’re seeing here is the Z4 M40i First Edition.

It packs a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine, producing 250 kW (340 metric hp) between 5,000-6,000 rpm and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque between 1,600-4,500 rpm. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint happens in 4.5 seconds, apparently. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The new Supra too will most likely share the same engine. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic.

Also on offer will be sDrive20i and sDrive30i models with a 2.0L inline-4 engine. The former has 145 kW (197 metric hp) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) on offer while the latter offers 190 kW (258 metric hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

BMW says, there’s a perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution. More interesting features include sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Sport braking system and an electronically controlled M Sport rear differential.

On the exterior, the car packs adaptive LED headlamps with matrix function for the high beam, and 19-inch light alloy wheels in double-spoke design. This particular model is finished in Frozen Orange metallic paint.

The driver-focused interior gets a Head-Up Display featured for the first time in a roadster, electrically adjustable seats with memory function, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, optional ambient lighting and Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.

Contract manufacturer Magna Steyr will produce the new Z4. Worldwide market launch will commence in the spring of 2019.
