The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) in association with World Resources Institute (WRI) have initiated a project to deploy two and four-wheeler rental and ride sharing project at six metro stations in Bengaluru, India.

Besides internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, options including electric scooters with keyless entry, electric cycles, and electrified/electric cars will be made available with different business models, to better understand what the citizens of the city want.

After 1 year, findings from these six metro station use cases will be shared with the Government and other interested stakeholders, the company said.

Toyota has partnered with Wicked Ride for two wheelers. The scooters can be picked up at the metro station using keyless entry, and can be dropped off at any place. The aforementioned “different business models” will include testing of point to point or subscription services.

TMF and WRI will conduct the first- and last-mile connectivity projects in Bengaluru and Hyderabad over the next three years, from 2018 to 2021.
