July Update – 2019 Suzuki Jimny has been fully revealed. Read here.
Suzuki has officially revealed the 4th generation Jimny. However, details are scarce at the moment as a full launch is scheduled in July. So, check back for the same.
In the Japanese market, the Jimny will be offered in two variants – Jimny and Jimny Sierra. The standard Jimny will pack a 660 cc 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, which would classify it as a “Kei car“. The Sierra variant will pack a larger 1.5-litre engine.
As we can see in this image, the visual difference between the two variants is pretty clear. The Sierra wears a more serious look with chunkier bumpers, flared wheel arches and some body cladding.
The mini SUV is built on a ladder frame chassis and features three-link rigid axle suspension. The 4WD is part-time and features a low range transfer case.
The fresh interior layout reminds us of the latest Suzuki models. Familiar elements include twin-pod instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and large climate control knobs. Notice the 5-speed manual transmission.
