The last time we heard about Tamo Racemo was that the project has been put on hold indefinitely as the parent company was still evaluating whether the project is financially viable.
But then, the Racemo was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in different variants, including a fully electric variant. Unsurprisingly, it drew a lot of attention and those who saw it personally, would agree that the car looks really good in terms of the build and the materials.
The latest news about the Racemo is that the project has been put up for sale along with stakes in other group companies in order to raise funds, reports MoneyControl. Tata Motors recently announced that the board has approved to sell the defense business to group entity Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL).
The company will also sell its shareholding in TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd (TAL) to TASL at an enterprise value of Rs 625 crores.
The Racemo was originally unveiled at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show under a sub-brand called Tamo – short for Tata Advanced Mobility. The car was supposed to be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine, with an output of 190 hp at 6,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed AMT with paddle shifters, sending power to the rear wheels.
The car is built on a patented technology called Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) or MOFlex, invented by Italian designer Marcello Gandini. According to reports, the plan was to sell the Racemo as a kit car.
