After multiple delays, Bengaluru-based startup Ather Energy announced that the pre-order window for the S340 will open in June for Bengaluru customers. The charging infrastructure will go live in Bengaluru in May, and the stations will have fast charging capability from the day 1.
“After 4 years, 55 prototypes, 50K kms in on-road testing and over a million man hours, the S340 is finally ready,” CEO Tarun Mehta said.
Mehta said that the company started receiving pre-production components from 100+ suppliers and vendors, and the assembly line has come up in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Currently, a trial production is running and the commercial production is planned to commence in July.
He further said that they’ve taken all this time to ensure a superior ownership experience to the customer, from purchase to after sales, with the company’s very first vehicle.
Also, the company plans to open an Experience Center at Indiranagar in Bengaluru, in June, where the customers can take test rides and interact with the team.
As for the launch in other cities, Mehta said “soon after deliveries commence in Bengaluru.”
