Nissan showcased the second generation Leaf electric vehicle at the 2018 Bangkok Motor Show. The Thailand division of the Japanese automaker hopes to launch the vehicle soon.
Speaking to Bangkok Post, Nissan Thailand President Antoine Barthes told that Nissan has been working with market research firm Frost & Sullivan to conduct a survey about the perception of electric vehicles (EV) among buyers in Southeast Asia.
“In Thailand, we found 44% of 300 buyers are looking to buy pure electric cars and are willing to buy them at a 50% premium of the price of regular vehicles,” he said.
Barthes further added that Nissan is committed to launch the new Leaf in 7 markets in Asia and Oceania, including Thailand, this year.
The second generation Leaf was globally unveiled in September 2017. Besides its home market in Japan, the new Leaf currently retails in Europe and North American markets. Read more about the new Leaf here.
