Rolls-Royce has launched the 8th generation Phantom in India, priced at Rs 9.5 Crore for the standard wheelbase, and Rs 11.35 Crore for the extended wheelbase, making it the most expensive car currently on sale in India. Both prices are ex-showroom, Pan India.
The new Phantom was globally unveiled back in July 2017. It is claimed to be the most silent motor car in the world, all thanks to better sound insulation and specially made tyres. The car gets an all-aluminium spaceframe architecture, making it 30 per cent more rigid than the one on Phantom VII, promising a better ride comfort.
One of the changes on the inside is that the analogue instrument cluster has been replaced with 12.3-inch TFT colour display with LED backlighting. There is also ‘The Gallery’, a single piece of glass that spans the full width of the dashboard.
The 6.75-litre V12 powertrain now gets two turbochargers, and has been reworked to be more silent. The engine makes 563 hp and 900 Nm of torque @ 1700 rpm. The 8-speed ZF Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT) has been retained.
