The new Nissan Note hatchback has been spotted testing in India multiple times, in the JDM-spec ‘Medalist’ trim. This time, however, the car doesn’t wear any camouflage, instead, it wears the e-Power badge.

The e-Power badge indicates that the car has Nissan’s e-Power system under the hood. Meaning, the car is a series hybrid, where an electric motor (EM57) with a maximum torque of 254 Nm powers the front wheels and a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (HR12DE) which makes 79 PS and 103 Nm acts as a generator. Nissan claims a fuel efficiency of 37 km/l (JC08 cycle).
At the moment, there is no official word from Nissan or any reliable sources that the standard Note or Note e-Power is being considered for the Indian market. Earlier, there were reports of Nissan considering the new Leaf EV for India. But then, the Leaf can be too expensive for an emerging market like India, which is why the company is developing a Kwid-based EV. More on that here.
