TVS Motor has launched the much-awaited Apache RR 310 at Rs 2.05 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle marks the company’s entry into the super-premium segment, both in domestic and international markets.
The Apache RR 310 shares its underpinnings with the BMW G 310 R naked motorcycle, as the project was a joint development between BMW Motorrad and TVS. The RR 310 is built on a lightweight trellis frame welded onto a two-arm aluminium die-cast swingarm.
Powering the motorcycle is a reverse inclined 312.2 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 34 PS at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of torque at 7,700 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed super-slick gearbox that is claimed to offer a precise and sharp race-shift experience.
The motorcycle boasts a top speed of 160 km/h, and acceleration from 0-60 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, thanks to an advanced aerodynamics package that promises the lowest drag coefficient in this segment of 0.26 Cd.
Kerb weight is 169.5 kg, and the bike promises the best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 0.147 kW/kg.
Other features include Bi-LED projector headlamps, race-inspired vertical speedo-cum-tachometer, dual-channel ABS, and KYB race-tuned suspension.
Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes on both sides measuring 300 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. The Apache RR 310 is the first sub-500 cc motorcycle to be shod with Michelin Street Sport tyres measuring 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear.
The front suspension is USD forks while the rear is a gas-assisted mono.
Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor Company said, “The TVS Apache RR 310 is the most advanced and exclusive offering in our product portfolio, as it is a manifestation of 35 years of learnings from the race track, coupled with cutting-edge technology. We are confident that customers will find it to be a perfect combination of racecraft technology and riding dynamics.”
