One of the reasons we love electric cars is the thrill of an instant acceleration. But, there might be people who would rather prefer a gradual acceleration similar to an ICE vehicle.
Which is why Tesla has introduced a “Chill” mode via software update for the Model S and Model X. The Chill mode is ideal for smoother driving and a gentler ride for the passengers, says Tesla in the update.
Watch the above video by DragTimes, skip to 7:25, and the difference is clearly noticeable. In the Standard mode, the car accelerates just the way an electric car should. And when the Chill mode is selected, its rather slow and gradual.
As he says in the video – “What is even the point, no one wants to drive like that!”
Besides the Chill mode, Tesla has introduced another update called Easy Entry, and as you might have guessed, it is for getting in and out more easy. The update says, when you park, the steering wheel and driver’s seat will automatically adjust for an easier exit. After you return to the vehicle, they automatically adjust back to the recent driving profile.
