As announced back in January this year, the PSA-AVTEC powertrain plant construction has begun in Hosur, TN, with a ground-breaking ceremony. The plant is a 50:50 JV between PSA Group and CK Birla Group’s AVTEC Ltd.
The plant will have an initial capacity of 200,000 units per year, and will receive further investment at a later date to ramp up the capacity. The facility will also cater to global OEMs. The company said that there’ll be a significant level of localisation in order to bring down the costs.
PSA Group which owns brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Vauxhall, DS, and Opel, is most likely to introduce only the Peugeot brand in India.
