Porsche has revealed the new 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS models with minor design tweaks and increased power.
The 2.5-litre 4-cylinder boxer (flat) engine now makes 365 hp, thanks to a newly developed intake duct and an optimized turbocharger. The engine delivers 11 kW (15 hp) more than the 718 S model and up to 26 kW (35 hp) more than its GTS predecessor. A max torque of 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) is available between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm.
The cars are available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a PDK. The GTS vehicles are equipped with a host of options as standard, such as the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which lowers the body by 10 mm.
With PDK and Sport Chrono Package, the GTS models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, and on to a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).
As is typical for GTS models, the Bi-Xenon headlights are black-tinted. At the rear, the tinted taillights, black logos, black rear apron and centrally positioned black tailpipes of the standard sports exhaust system give the GTS its unique appearance. Black GTS logos at the base of the doors and 20-inch wheels painted in black satin complete the side view.
On the inside, the stopwatch of the Sport Chrono Package is included as standard. Both the driver and passenger enjoy sports seats, which feature Alcantara centres as with the other Porsche GTS models. The seats can be electronically adjusted in two ways and provide increased lateral support and comfort. Furthermore, there is the Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA), which enables the driver to automatically record, display and analyze driving data on their smartphone.
The 718 GTS models are available to order now and arrive at dealerships in mid-December 2017, Porsche said. Prices start at €78,160 for 718 Boxster GTS and €76,137 for the 718 Cayman GTS.
