The ‘Beast of the Green Hell’, ahead of its India debut on August 21, recorded a lap time of 2 mins 09.853 secs, becoming the first production car to do so at the Buddh International Circuit.
The speed test was conducted by FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India) and the AMG GT R was driven by AMG Driver Christian Hohenadel.
Unveiled in June last year, the GT R sits on top of the GT range. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 585 hp and 700 Nm of torque, 75 hp and almost 50 Nm more than the GT S. It features rear-wheel steering. Read more about the GT R here.

The earlier ‘Fastest Lap’ (2:14.521) at Buddh International Circuit was also clocked by a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, the legendary SLS AMG in March, 2013.
