Hyundai Creta Electric debuts with new dreams

Hyundai-Creta-Electric

Ever since its launch in India, about 10 years ago, the Hyundai Creta has been a popular choice for those who wish to upgrade from a traditional small hatchback to a bigger jacked-up hatchback and make their neighbors jealous. Following the Creta N Line, the second-gen Creta facelift lineup is now joined by the Creta Electric, expected to be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 event in Delhi, on Jan 17.

Visually, the Creta Electric retains the lighting elements from the Creta facelift, while making EV-typical adaptations such as the closed-off “grille” and the charging port in the middle. The 17-inch Aero alloy wheels are specific to the model. Hyundai also talks about Active Air Flaps (AAF) in its press release; these flaps manage the air flow and help in cooling the vehicle components and improve aerodynamic performance.

Hyundai does not mention the platform it is using for the Creta Electric. It is not the E-GMP that underpins the Ioniq 5, since the E-GMP is an EV-specific platform. I’m assuming the hardware could be from the Kona Electric.

But anyway, the Creta Electric will be available in four variants – Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence with 8 monotone and 2 dual-tone color options including 3 matte options.

Buyers get to choose from two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, with claimed ranges of 390 km (242 mi) and 473 km (294 mi), respectively. DC fast-charging from 10% to 80% is possible in 58 minutes. The Long Range model is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds.

Other key highlights include Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, i-Pedal technology (one pedal driving), and a Digital Key.
