The “stock” Rimac Nevera, as you all probably know, offers 1,408 kW (1,914 metric hp) and 2,360 Nm (1,741 lb-ft) of combined figures from its four electric motors, which of course, are just silly even for those occasional track days. It has an official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 1.81 seconds (new data). But if anything we’ve learned from these supercars/hypercars, there’s no such thing as too much power; there’s always an attempt from carmakers to shove more and more horses into an existing package and create a new variant. Which is probably why we now have the Rimac Nevera R.

The Nevera R is part of the Rimac brand’s 15-year anniversary celebrations; it was showcased at the Monterey Car Week recently.
At first glance, the Nevera R may not look all that different compared with the Nevera, but there are a few visual and functional distinguishing elements, such as the bonnet, the front bumper with larger intakes, the wheels, and of course, the rear spoiler and the fixed wing situation. The rear diffuser is larger too. Rimac claims downforce is up by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency is by 10%. With new Michelin Cup 2 tires, total understeer is reduced by 10%, lateral grip is up by 5% and the lap time around the Nardo Handling Track is reduced by 3.8 seconds, the company says.
There are new EVO2 carbon ceramic brakes with a silicone matrix layer—which is claimed to ensure improved stopping performance, cooling performance and durability during hard usage. The Nevera R also boasts sharper, tighter cornering, thanks to the new generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system—which has been re-tuned to maximize the potential of the new high-performance tires.
The battery pack in this application is a new 108 kWh unit as opposed to Nevera’s 120 kWh pack. Of course, the range is gonna be a bit less here, but obviously, the range is not the goal of the Nevera R, or the original Nevera for that matter. Rimac claims a power output of 1,550 kW or 2,107 metric hp (+193) and a 0-300 km/h (186 mph) sprint time of 8.66 seconds (-0.56 seconds).
We’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasized the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on-board.
