2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 debuts with 1,000+ horses

2025-Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR1

The C8 Chevrolet Corvette lineup is now joined by the Corvette ZR1, billed as the fastest, most powerful Corvette ever. The Corvette ZR1 will be available in two trims: 1LZ and 3LZ. Pricing and availability will be shared closer to its production—which is expected sometime in early 2025. But in the meantime, let’s take a look at what’s all the hoopla:

The Corvette ZR1 looks almost similar to the Corvette Z06, except for that redesigned hood with a large air outlet. The rear wing, front dive planes, and the hood gurney lip you see here, are all part of the optional ZTK performance package. The package also includes underbody strakes that replace the standard front underwing stall gurney to increase front downforce; stiffer springs, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. But don’t worry, it’s not all optional though. The carbon fiber on the side air ducts and the rear hatch is standard. Also standard is the Magnetic Selective Ride Control 4.0. Adjustable front lift with memory is optionally available.

The naked carbon 10-spoke wheels are also an optional extra. But anyway, the wheels hide carbon ceramic rotors measuring 15.7-inches (400 mm) at the front and 15.4-inches (390 mm) at the rear; the former are claimed to be the largest ever equipped on a Corvette.

Let’s get the numbers out of the way then, shall we? The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 5.5L LT7 biturbo V8 engine, offering 793.5 kW (1,079 metric hp/1,064 bhp) at 7,000 rpm and 1,123 Nm (828 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm. Those are significantly higher numbers compared with the N/A 5.5L V8-powered Z06. Transmission remains to be an 8-speed DCT. As for performance figures, Chevy estimates the Corvette ZR1 doing a top speed of over 215 mph (346 km/h) on the racetrack and dispatching the quarter mile in a sub-10-second time.

Inside, key features depending on the trim include a 12-inch digital cluster, 8-way power GT1 or Competition Sport seats (1LZ), heated and ventilated Nappa leather GT2 or Competition Sport seats with power lumbar/wing adjust (3LZ), 10-speaker Bose premium sound system (1LZ), 14-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system (3LZ), HD Rear Vision Camera and Rear Camera Mirror, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with carbon-fiber trim and shift paddles.
