The Sonet became just as successful for Kia Motors in India as the brand’s debut offering in the country, the Seltos. The Seltos received a facelift not too long ago, which supposedly made it even more “badass”, but the smaller Sonet can’t be left out, right? Well, here it is, the wild Sonet facelift.
The good thing about the Sonet facelift is that unlike a lot of facelifts we see lately, it is not literally a face-lift. I mean, you can see changes on the rear fascia as well. The styling revisions are kinda similar to those of the Seltos facelift, which might confuse non-car enthusiasts into thinking they are looking at the Seltos. Nevertheless, the Sonet will continue to attract young buyers who crave pseudo-SUVs despite these vehicles being nothing more than jacked-up FWD hatchbacks.
The 2024 Sonet facelift will be available in 7 trims in total: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. As you can see from the photo above, the Sonet X-Line attempts to look more sporty with dark elements. From HTK+ onwards you get an electric sunroof, and the 16-inch alloy wheels shown here are standard on GTX+ and X-Line. The HTX+ also gets 16-inch alloy wheels but in a different design. The so-called Crown Jewel LED headlights are standard from HTX onwards.
Depending on the trim, buyers get to choose from seven mono and two dual-tone paint options: Intense Red + Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl + Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Imperial Blue, and Pewter Olive.

Inside, things look pretty much the same, however, this time around, there’s a 10.25-inch full digital cluster (HTX+ onwards). HTX+ onwards you also get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and except for the base HTE, the rest of the trims get an 8-inch touchscreen.
Other key highlights depending on the trim include front ventilated seats, a 4-way power driver’s seat, a 7-speaker Bose audio system, auto AC, wired Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, voice-controlled windows, Alexa home-to-car connectivity, and more.
6 airbags, ESC, Brake Assist, Hill Assist Control, and Vehicle Stability Management are standard across the lineup. GTX+ onwards gets ADAS such as Front Collision Warning, Front Collision-Avoidance Assist (cycle, pedestrian), Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Following Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the 2024 Sonet facelift continues with the existing set of powertrains. Buyers get to choose from a 61 kW (83 metric hp) 1.2L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled with a 5-MT, an 88 kW (120 metric hp) 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 6-iMT/7-DCT options, and an 85 kW (115 metric hp) 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 6-MT/6-iMT/6-AT options.
