Jeep is showcasing the 2024 Wrangler lineup at the 2023 New York International Auto Show. The 2024 Wrangler lineup is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year, and the trim lineup includes Sport, Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, Rubicon and Rubicon 392. Sport S 4xe and Rubicon X are a new addition to the trim lineup, but we’ll talk about them in just a minute or two.
So, what’s new for 2024? Well, the Wrangler Rubicon models are claimed to offer even more legendary 4×4 capability with an available factory-installed 8,000-lbs-capacity (3,629 kg) Warn winch; up to 100:1 crawl ratio; a new Dana 44 HD Full Float solid rear axle that allows for tire upsizing by owners, and up to 5,000-lbs (2,268 kg) maximum towing capability.
The Wrangler Willys model steps up 4×4 capability with a newly standard Tru-Lok rear locker; steel rock rails; trailer tow and heavy-duty electrical group, plus larger 33-inch tires (replacing previous 32-inch tires). On top of that, the Willys 4xe adds the Selec-Trac full-time transfer case with a 4LO ratio of 2.72:1.
The Rubicon X is apparently a more premium take on the Rubicon, adding Rock-Trac full-time transfer case; an integrated off-road camera; steel bumpers, and Xtreme 35 Package with beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires.
The color palette for 2024 includes 10 options: Anvil (new), Earl, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Silver Zynith, High Velocity, Hydro Blue, Sarge, Bright White and Black.
On the inside then, you get a new 12.3-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5 software; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity; five user profiles plus a valet mode, and Trails Offroad—a comprehensive trail guide system—which is claimed to make off-road trip planning easier than ever and more accessible for the owners.
The 4xe is a plug-in hybrid model that combines a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, two electric motors and a 17 kWh battery pack. The output figures of this model are 280 kW (381 metric hp) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft). New for 2024, all Wrangler 4xe models offer a Jeep 4xe Power Box that features four 120-volt outlets with 30 amps of total output, allowing the battery pack to power external devices such as phones and tablets.
