Kia EV5 Concept shows off its swivelling seats

Kia has revealed the EV5 Concept—which previews the upcoming all-electric crossover that’ll be initially launched in the Chinese market later this year. The concept showcases an updated version of the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design language.

Speaking of which, the front fascia sports a new form of ‘Digital Tiger Face’—which is, of course, a modern homage to the brand’s original Tiger Nose grille design. The light signature at the front is billed as a Star Light signature—which apparently is inspired by the constellations (a group of stars forming a perceived pattern or outline). Notice that the light signature extends a bit deep into the side of the vehicle. The side profile has some muscular creases, while at the rear, there’s an attempt to mimic the front light signature. The concept rides on 21-inch aerodynamic wheels. The exterior is painted in Iceberg matte green—which I think looks pretty cool on this concept.

On the inside, the EV5 Concept has a calm and soothing ambience with the colors and materials used. The seats, doors, dashboard, and headliner are covered with materials that are made from seaweed extract and recycled PET bottles. There’s no use of animal leather here, of course. But there are also some wild stuff going on with swiveling seats so that you can take advantage of those wide opening doors and relax in the woods. There’s also what appears to be a bench kind of a thing in the boot. I mean, you have options when it comes to where you prefer to relax. The full-length panoramic sunroof incorporates solar panels so that you never run out of juice wherever you are. But of course, it remains to be seen how many of these will make it to the actual production vehicle.
