Yup, this is another version of the BMW R18 lineup—which in the global markets includes the R18, R18 Classic, R18 B, R18 100 Years, and of course, the topic of today, the R18 Transcontinental—priced at INR 31,50,000 (ex-showroom, PAN India). As with other R18 models, this one too is being imported to India as a completely built-up unit (CBU), and therefore carries such a fat price tag.
The R18 Transcontinental is very similar to the R18 B in terms of looks and most of the features, but the Transcontinental also gets that rear seat backrest-storage contraption; engine fairing; adaptive LED headlight; Marshall Gold Series Stage 2 audio system; Hill-Start Control; Active Cruise Control, and reverse gear. Buyers get to choose from five color options: Black Storm Metallic, Gravity Blue Metallic, Manhattan Metallic Matte, Option 719 Mineral White Metallic and Option 719 Galaxy Dust Metallic/Titan Silver 2 Metallic.
The 1,802 cc two-cylinder Boxer engine pumps out 67 kW (91 metric hp) at 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm (116.5 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 rpm. And, apparently, more than 150 Nm is always available between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.
