The side profile has sharp creases similar to those of the Elantra, while at the rear, again, there’s a full-width light bar. SX variants are fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, with turbo models boasting black wheels. The SX variants also get a smart electric sunroof.

Things look just as high-tech and cutting-edge on the inside, of course. Key features depending on the trim include a 10.25-inch touchscreen (8-inch for lesser trims); a digital driver display; Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity; heated & ventilated front seats; adjustable headrests; auto AC, 8-speaker Bose premium audio system; wireless smartphone charging pad; USB-C charging ports, and more. Home to Car (H2C) with Alexa and Google voice assistant is also another key highlight of the new Verna. Download the brochure here.
The new Verna boasts 6 airbags as standard across the trim lineup. But then, the range-topping SX (O) trims get Hyundai SmartSense (ADAS) suite—which includes Forward Collision Warning; Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (car, pedestrian, cyclist and junction turning); Blind-spot Collision Warning; Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist; Lane Keeping Assist; Lane Departure Warning; Driver Attention Warning; Safe Exit Warning; Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go; Lane Following Assist; High Beam Assist; Leading Vehicle Departure Alert; Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine offers 84.4 kW (115 metric hp) and 143.8 Nm (106 lb-ft), and can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT (automatic). For those who want more, there’s of course, the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol on offer, with 117.5 kW (160 metric hp) and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft); this engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT (automatic).
