As you probably know, Buick sells two versions of the Encore SUV: the Encore and a slightly larger version called the Encore GX. Well, the latter has been updated for 2024 with the first-ever Encore GX Avenir trim. The 2024 Buick Encore GX goes on sale in the U.S. market coming May, and there’ll be three trims to choose from:

The Encore GX Avenir is the range-topping trim, and some of the key exterior highlights of this model include a model-specific grille; exclusive 19-inch aluminum wheels with Pearl Nickel finish; body-colored lower rocker molding, and gloss-black rear bumper appliqués. A moonroof is an optional extra, as is the case with the other two trims. The base model is not bad either; it gets LED headlights and 18-inch aluminium wheels.
The Sport Touring trim boasts gloss black elements, an ST badge on the front grille, and 18-inch high-gloss-black wheels. I’m not entirely sure about that chrome surround for that grille and chrome window line on the side; I mean, if you’re going for dark looks, go fully dark, right? But anyway, 19-inch black wheels are optionally available for this trim.
On the inside, the Encore GX Avenir boasts 8-way power-adjustable, leather-trimmed front seats, plus 2-way power lumbar; heating function for front seats; fold-flat front-passenger seat; heated steering wheel; dual-zone auto AC; an 8-inch driver display, and a 11-inch central touchscreen. Do note that the aforementioned two displays are standard across the trims.
The dark-themed cabin of the Encore GX Sport Touring features a flat-bottom steering wheel and embroidered ST branding on the front headrests. A Bose audio system is an optional extra on the Sport Touring and Avenir.
The Avenir Technology Package gets you Adaptive Cruise Control; Rear Camera Mirror with a rear camera washer; HD Surround Vision, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
However, the Buick Driver Confidence package comes standard across the trims, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam auto high-beam, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Following Distance Indicator.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the 2024 Buick Encore GX is gonna continue with the 1.2L and 1.3L 3-cylinder turbo petrol options, with the latter offering optional all-wheel-drive. As for the output figures, the 1.2L offers 102 kW (139 metric hp/137 bhp) and 219 Nm (162 lb-ft), while the 1.3L offers 115 kW (156 metric hp/154 bhp) and 236 Nm (174 lb-ft). Both engines are coupled with a CVT, but if you opt for the all-wheel-drive variant, the 1.3L will be coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
